This Week in NativeScript - September 6, 2016

Well, summer is unofficially over. Now that we’re all done watching (for the most part) abysmally disappointing summer movies, it’s time to get back to building apps. Also, it means that we are just two weeks away from NativeScript Developer Day. Yes, two weeks! So, get moving and register!

  A new plugin adding NativeScript support including a wizard for project creation, run configuration and code assistance by Issam Guissouma.
• Observing Observables in NativeScript
  Alex Ziskind notes that NativeScript observables are a little different than the ES6 observables and offers tips on ways to work with observables.
• Nativescript Showcase
  A demo app created using a number of plugins and implemented in NativeScript with Angular 2 and TypeScript by Carlos Rubio and GFT.
• Pokedex
  Mike Branstein wrote this NativeScript app featuring text-to-speech for his kids. He also shares the source code.
• NativeScript Live Debugging
  The latest release allows both debugging and LiveSync at the same time. Alex Ziskind shows how in this video tutorial.

• Angular 2 Advanced Seed
  Nathan Walker’s advanced Angular seed for building web and native apps in one code base has been updated to support Angular RC 5.
• NativeScript ePub Reader
  Sean Perkins released an initial version of a NativeScript plugin to open and read ePub files on iOS.
• NativeScript Slider
  Habib Kazemi released a fork of the NativeScript slider that adds a dragged event.
• NativeScript DynamicLoader
  Nathanael Anderson released a new commercial plugin for dynamically loading (and unloading) chunks of declarative XML into any UI element. Slick!
• NativeScript Server-Sent Events
  Osei Fortune added iOS support to his server-sent events plugin.
