Presenting the Finalists of our Weather App Challenge!

July 5, 2016 — by Jen Looper

Earlier this month, we challenged our community on our Slack channel and on our blog to create a beautiful weather app to showcase both their skills and the great design and UX that NativeScript enables cross-platform. Not surprisingly, three of our most prolific experts have submitted three beautiful apps! We would like to get your opinion on which one should win the Ultimate Swag Prize Pack. Which one, in your opinion, has the best UX? Leave a note in the comments below to tell us which one you'd choose to win.

1. Fancy Weather by Nedim Erkocevic (repo) -- available for iOS and Android

A proof of concept on how to create good looking UI with NativeScript in no time. App inspired by the "Yahoo Weather app".

- Current weather
- Detailed hourly & weekly forecast
- Location-based backgrounds
- Location search & last-visited locations

2. Weather Cards by Josh Sommer (repo) -- available for Android
A weather app inspired by Sergey Valiukh's Dribbble concept and built with NativeScript and Angular 2. Weather cards uses the API.

3. WeatheRecipes by Osei Fortune (repo) -- available for Android
WeatheRecipes is your source for your local weather and a delightful recipe to match. Using your device's location, the local weather is displayed along with a local photo background.  Is it so hot you could fry an egg on the sidewalk and need a frozen margarita to go with it? Look no further. WeatheRecipes serves up both your weather and accompanying recipes to match.
